GRAND RIVER COASTAL CORRIDOR CONSERVATION PLAN
Grand Valley Metropolitan Council
The Grand River Coastal Corridor Conservation Plan is a regional planning effort focused on the lower Grand River where it meets Lake Michigan in West Michigan. The plan addresses a globally significant system of drowned river mouths, coastal wetlands, dunes, forests, lakes, and streams that support wildlife, recreation, and local economies. The corridor spans both public and private lands across multiple municipalities and jurisdictions. Its purpose is to provide municipalities, organizations, and residents with practical guidance for protecting, restoring, and engaging with these resources over time. As a planning document, it connects ecological goals with real-world management decisions and offers a framework for coordinated action across the corridor.
