WESTOWN COMMONS

Renovation of Westown Commons was a collaborative effort between an engaged neighborhood volunteer group, the City of Grand Rapids Parks Department, and VIRIDIS Design Group. Responding to input from local youth, the design team transformed an abandoned wading pool into an active skatepark that draws visitors regionally. With improved and new amenities, including a picnic shelter, drinking fountain, and bike racks, Westown Commons is reactivated as a popular neighborhood hub.
